| SLI 2.0 released - 12/14/2001 |

You can now download version 2.0 from the SLI page. If you already have SLI on you
computer you can just download the update and install into your old sli directory. The new
version had the following updates:
- Lag and firewall tolerance.
- Better communication model (pieces shouldn't disappear anymore).
- Sounds
- The chat area now informs you who is in chat upon entering.

With the help of Matthew Coe, we have been testing the new SLI packet
loss module. The module will better facilitate people behind firewalls and with slow connections
to play Stratego Legends using SLI.
We played two complete games last night without any game stopping problems. I have
one issue to fix, then that part of the upgrade will be done.
I have also finished the sound module. I'm not very good at
making sounds, so I need your help. I need sounds for the following
actions:
- click (when a square is clicked)
- Reveal
- Move
- Attack
- Switch
- Owner(give ownership to opponent)
- Distance Strike
- Vision
- Reveal Terrain Type
The sounds can be in the following formats: .wav or .au

I'm definitely going to try them out, especially "Non-elite Forces".

| Tourney Update - 10/02/2001 |

I have decided to put the first online tourney on hold until after the next release of SLI. With more people playing
lately a few issues have been brought to my attention that need to be addressed. I don't want the SLI program to
be the cause of tournament frustration. The following is a list of new features and improvements.
- Implement lag/firewall tolerance (most important).
- Sounds
- Add a user list to the chat server so you know who is in chat.
Here is the start of the maybe list:
- The two beginning switches will not be visible to your opponent.
I appreciate all the suggestions that I have received, and if anyone has anything they
would like added to the list let me know.

So, I am hosting a Pre Tournment Practice on Saturday (9/1) at 11:00 CST. Come and play a
few games. Also, it will give you a chance to make sure SLI is working correctly on your
system. I will be there to answer any questions until 11:30 (then I plan on playing too).

For a long time I've wanted to be able to print out the armies designed on this site.
The problem has been how to format the data so it will always print on one page. Well, thanks
to the folks at www.pdflib.com it is now possible. I have added a new print link on each army page.
To view the printable army lists you will need to have the adobe acrobat reader plug-in (for your browser) install on your computer.
If you have abobe acrobat reader then the plug-in is probably install.
For example:

Once you're there you will see a link to print the army. Click on the link and the plug-in should load the printable army list.
If it doesn't load you will need to download the plug-in from adobe.

| SLI/Site Updated - 07/06/2001 |

I have updated the Army Builder to include the new expanison pieces. I have also released
version 1.4 of SLI. The new version has the following changes:
- The new expansion pieces and terrain have been added.
- The chat boxes will now text wrap.
- You can now Switch your own pieces (when revealed). This is for those of
us who like to play with switching spirits.
- A fix for text not showing up in chatbox.

I'm looking for a good fantasy artist to do some stratego legends sticker size art for me. I have
some very cool (my humble opinion) unofficial expansion sets that I would like to share, but I don't
have any pictures. Email me some samples of your work if your interested.

I have added all the new pawns to the database. You can now search or view them in their respective armies on the
Army page. You can also added the new pawns to your trade lists. I will be added the new
pawns to the army builder soon.
I have updated the expansion page to include
army makeups and piece text.

| New Expansion Packs - 03/02/2001 |

Packaging:
There are two boxes: one purple (evil) and titled Qa'an Resurgence. The
other is blue (good) and titled Celestial Vengeance. You get the same pawns
in each box every time. There is no randomization -- you get the same thing
in each box each time you buy it. Each box comes with 30 pawns (there are
multiple copies of the same pawn), a reference chart, and two new land boards.

Availability:
We are going in stock today (3/1/2001) at 1:30 pm. This means that I will walk to the
factory floor and watch thousands of games fly off the line and into boxes.
This means they go out next week to distributors, then on to retailers a few
weeks after.

I have put together a page of images from the new expansions,
click here to view. The print on the cards will
take some time to figure out, but will be worth the effort. I'll be adding the
new pawns to the database soon.
First Impressions:
Like I said yesterday, say Goodbye to Oreld, Evit, and Medusa. These
pieces are easily destroyed with pieces from the new expansion. There are new
actions, abilities, innates, and death curses. The art work is
great, and the new terrain boards are mostly forest and plains. There
are no random boxes this time, so you only need to buy one box of each
(thank you Avalon Hill). All in all, this is a must have for all Stratego
Legends players. With that in mind, get down to your local game store and tell
them to put in an order! Let's make this expansion a success so Avalon Hill can
justify making more in the future!

The new expansion packs should be out later this month. The gracious people at Avalon Hill (Rob) have sent me a preview of the
new sets. I will be posting them tomorrow for your viewing. If you need something to tide you over til then, here is my first impression:

I revamped the Contest page. It will now contain a
list of tournaments and contests that are being held. This next month my local
gaming store (Spellbound, Inc.) will be hosting a Stratego Legends tournament.
There will be convention pawns given out as prizes.

The Army lists are now in order of rank (then alphabetically). The number of wins for
each army is displayed at the end of its name ( # ).

| New SLI install method - 01/27/2001 |

With a lot of help from SquirrelBoy2002 I have posted a self extracting SLI program (sli.exe) on
the SLI page. You no longer need winzip to extract the files. SquirrelBoy2002 also made a cool dragon's head icon for the shortcut (to replace the mace).
The new shortcut is included in the sli.exe file.

| Upgrade to SLI 1.31 - 01/24/2001 |

I have just put the updated version of sli here. I would suggest deleting the old sli contents and replace it with the contents of the new zip.
Here is what is new:
- A reconnect feature, which allows you to reconnect to a game if one of you loses your internet connection.
It will not reconnect if the program dies or computer crashes.
- The ablity to create ranked or unranked games in the game manager. There will be a (R) displayed at the end of ranked games in the game list window.
- An expanded chatbox in the game manager.
- Fixed the End of Game box, it now looks like the rest of the game.
- As stated before, SLI now keeps track of wins/losses for each army (when a ranked game is played).
It also will keep track of who plays who (ranked games only), but I don't know what I'll do with this info yet.
Older versions of SLI will not work properly from this point on, so upgrade!
I'm in the process of changing the way the army lists
show up on the builder page. They will soon be in order of Rank instead of alphabetically.

You can now add strategy and tips to your armies.
I have added an example strategy to Oppolifnas's Minions on the builder page.
This is a strategy/tips I wrote for an earlier version of this army, so the pieces don't match up
(I'll fix this later).
I only allow one HTLM tag to be used in the comment section ( BR ).

I received an email from SquirrelBoy2002 with some suggestions for the site. One being to fix
the action text of the Great Shaman. I left out the all important word Magic from the
description, it is now fixed. Another suggestion was to add a strategy/text section to the army builder.
This would give you the option to share your strategies if you want to. This feature is now in the works and
should be done soon.
Drop me a line if you have downloaded the SLI program, and have tried it out.

I have finally finished the edit function for the ArmyList Manager. Now, you can
edit the your armies without having to delete and recreate. The manager is a bit busy in my opinion, so I'm
working on toning it down.
I received a new campaign ( The Raid ) this week, and I just posted it on the builder page.
