It's good to see that more of you are starting to post armies. I found it a bit
annoying that I couldn't see who built an army without opening it up. So, now, the name of the general
is printed next to each army.
I didn't get any responses on the ranking idea, so I take it that there is not much
interest in it. I've decided that each army should have its own ranking (win/loses).
So, if you build an experimental army and lose a bunch of times, you can just delete
it and all record of it is gone. I will be listing the armies
in order of rank as soon as I release the next version of SLI.
I'm still trying to find the time to write the edit army script for the armybuilder, Thanks
for your patience.

OK, I've finished the reconnect feature. If either player disconnects they will be
able to reconnect to the game and continue where they left off. I have not posted this
upgrade yet, I want to add one more feature before I do. I would like to
add a ranking system to the interface, but I need your input. Here is what I have in mind.
- When a game is created you will have the option to make it a rank game or not.
- Each army that you create will have it's own win / loss stats.
- Each army's stats will contribute to your overall rating.
- Each player will start out with a rating of 1000 points.
- Each win is worth 5 points and each loss is worth -3 points.
- The lowest points possible is zero (there will be no negative ratings).
Email me by 12/20/2000 with your
thoughts and suggestions.

I played an awesome game last week using the SLI, but
unfortunately I got disconnected ( sometimes my ISP can be flakey ) towards the
end and the game was lost. So, I've decided to add a reconnect feature to the
game. I'm trying to get it done before Christmas.

| Call for Beta Testers - 11/17/2000 |

I've written a little program ( Stratego Legends related ) in java and I'm looking for some people to try it out.
Now, this isn't an applet that you run from your browser, it's an application and it requires
Sun's Java 2 JRE (Java Runtime Environment) 1.3. You can download it from their
site. It's about 5 megs for the windows version,
so it shouldn't take too long to download. Also, you need to be a member of the
trade guild to participate.
Once you have fulfilled these two requirements, email me for the code.
In your email include your OS (ie. windows, linux, Solaris), Processor, and Memory. Sorry Mac users
they haven't released your version yet.

| Expansion News - 10/11/2000 |
|
Here's the latest news from Avalon Hill:
We are coming out with two armies in the spring. These are essentially
half games. Each will contain 15 pieces (multiple copies of the same piece
in many cases) and two land boards that work with that army. All pieces are
brand new and can be put into other armies.
Right now, it looks like a blue army and a purple army. Mostly angels vs.
mutants. The details on the pieces aren't finalized but there are a lot of
powers in there that help limit the more powerful pieces in the first set.
|
| Twilight Cards- 9/18/2000 |
|
|
Are you tired of getting random booster packs? Would you like
to get terrain boards and accessories without buying a full game? Well, look no further:
Twilight Cards, now in its 2nd year of business, is proud to feature
Stratego Legends. All booster set numbers and terrain boards are available
(while supplies last). More Stratego items are added on a regular basis, so
check back often! Twilight Cards also specializes in Magic: The Gathering
singles, sets, and boosters.
I have added Twilight Cards to the links page. One thing
to be aware of is that their site is NOT Netscape friendly, so use IE when you visit them.

I have added the second scenario to my campaign ( The Battle for Artolis ). It is called Peasants Unite, Check
it out and let me know what you think.
|
|
|
|
J. L. Robert has compiled another pawn list. It contains
each piece and all the stats ( which you can sort by ). This file is very well
done and is worth a look. I have added a zipped copy of his excel file to the links page.
|
|
|
|
I just added a trade search link to the store page. With the trade search you
can search for people who are trading the pawns you need. Right now it's pretty primitive, but it works.
Stay tune for improvements.

|
| Origin Convention- 7/21/2000 |
|
Rob of Avalon Hill graciously took the time to answer the following questions for me.
1) How was Stratego Legends received by the gamers?
Stratego Legends was received very, very well. It started out slowly, but
more and more people played, bought a
copy, showed their friends, who stopped by, played, bought a copy, etc.
2) Was there a Stratego Legends tournment? who won? what kind of army
did he/she use?
There was a tournament, but it was added to the registration book late. As
it wasn't in the pre-registration book,
not many people brought their armies. The showing was small and I am not
sure what armies the winner used.
3) What are the tournment rules?
2-out-of-3. Players bring a good army, an evil army, and four land boards.
Random draw decides which side plays good first.
The loser of the first game decides whether to keep the army he just played
with or to switch to his other army. Provided it wasn't a two-game sweep,
the loser of the second game gets to decide whether to switch armies or keep
the same one.
4) Did you unveil the new pawns? If so, what are their names, races, stats, etc?
There are two new pawns -- Noslrac and Celams. Noslrac is a purple 10
mutant. Celams is a gold 10 dragon.
5) Do you have images of the art work for the pawns that I could post?
Coming soon.
6) What's next for Stratego Legends?
A release in 2001 that is larger than a booster pack but smaller than a new
master game. Details are being worked out.

| Campaign Posting- 7/20/2000 |
|
|
I just added one of the winning campaigns to the campaign/army list page.
This is the first entry I received, I will add the other soon.
|
|
|
Thanks to all those who entered. Since there were only two entries and
both were very well done, I have decided to forgo the judging
procedure. Both will receive the 1999 convention pawns.
I will be out of town on business til Friday, when I get back I will
try to get the new campaigns formatted and posted, I think your really going to like
them.
|
| Trade Guild Editor- 7/15/2000 |
|
The Trade Guild Editor is complete; everyone can now use it. To be eligible to
use the editor you must first become a member of the Traders Guild. To become a
member click here.
Remember the scenario contest ends Sunday night. I
will not accept entries received after 11:59 PM ( CST ). I am not responsible
for slow or lost emails. If you would like a confirmation that I got your entry,
say so in your entry email.
|
| Contest Format- 7/14/2000 |
|
|
At this time I don't have a great word processing application, so please send
your campaigns as a text or HTML file.
|
| A Much Needed Update- 7/13/2000 |
|
Sorry to let so much time lapse between updates. I moved from Utah
to Nebraska and started training for my new job. I just barely got my home computer up and running again.
I've been working with the beta testers on the Trade List Editor and I should have
time to make the changes by this weekend. Sorry, I thought I would have had this
done sooner, but the move took more time than I expected.
The scenario contest ends Sunday Night so get your entries in. Don't miss out
on a chance to get the 1999 convention pawns.
The new convention pawns were probably unveiled today at the Origins Convention. Did anyone go?
If you know what the new pawns are let me know so I can post the info.

I am compiling a list of questions for the designers of Stratego Legends.
If you have a question that you would like to ask email me.
|
| Trader Guild Update- 7/01/2000 |
|
I have traded with the following Trade Guild members so far: Martin, Geoff, Bill Wilson, and Ron.
Judging from my personal experience, I would recommend them to you as good traders.
I have also traded with non guild member Steven.
I hope to finalize the Trade List Editor this week and open it up to
all guild members.
|
| Traders Guild Update - 6/26/2000 |
|
All beta testers have been choosen.
I will be out of town til Saturday.
|
| Traders Guild - 6/22/2000 | |
Due to popular demand I have added a Trade List Editor to the Store page. With the editor you can create and update your trade lists. To use the editor you must join the Traders Guild ( instructions are on the Store page ). In the future I will be adding a rating ( good / bad trader ) system. Thunder Point is not responisible for trades gone bad, so traders be weary.
I will be selecting ( very quickly ) around 5 beta testers to test the system for me. I will be selecting them from Traders Guild applications. During Beta testing no new traders will be added, but you can still register. Once testing is over, the Trade List Editor will be available to all guild members.
Did you notice anything different about the main page today? At the suggestion and help of Logram, Thunder Point now preloads the main Link images. |
| Contest Update - 6/20/2000 | |
One thing I failed to mention was that you may have multiple entries. You are not limited to one entry. I have updated the contest page to reflect this.
I have added two new links to the main page ( Contest and Store ). The store will be a place where you can post the pawns you wish to trade. Right now it's pretty primitive ( you have to email me ), but I've been approached by an individual who wants to make it automated and database driven. I'll keep you posted on its development. The contest section will be where you can read all about the past and present contests. |
| |
| Thunder Point's first contest begins today, read all about it here. |
| |
| I have updated my trading list ( due to trading ). |
| New Army List - 6/14/2000 | |
I have added another army list ( Oppolifnas' Minions ).
I am finalizing the contest rules and will be posting them either tomorrow or Monday. |
| |
I have added my pawn wish list ( along with the pawns I have to trade ).
This past weekend I purchased some booster packs and got the correct sticker for piece 53. So, if you have the error sticker hold on to it, it will become one of those rare pieces to find.
The first Thunder Point contest will be posted soon, and there will be prizes! |
| |
| I have added my first Army list. I am planning on making an army list form that would allow you to upload your favorite armies for everyone to see. I just need to know if you like the format or not, check out my sample and let me know. |
| |
| You may have noticed this post on the Avalon Hill message board, but if not here it is. This year at Origins and GenCon there will be two more "pawns" available....Craig and Rob will be finalizing the art and powers soon. The powers will be avaliable with "pawn" labels to adhere to your current reference charts. Each clan (other thatn the Gargans and the celestia) have a space with the Stratego Legends logo. This space was originally designed to add the extra "convention pawns" power description.
Eric Avalon Hill/Hasbro Games I would say that this is very good news indeed. |
| |
I am thinking of added a database of piece usage. When a piece is displayed from the search or armies pages there will be a link to bring up a new ( small ) window. The window will have a list of how others have used this piece along with a form to add your comments. What do you think?
OK, I now have three box sets (1,3,6). I would like to put together a list of the pieces in each set, so if you have 2, 4, or 5 please send me a number list of pieces. Thanks! |
| Piece Search Complete - 6/02/2000 | |
I have added the Forces of Evil to the search database. You can now search either or both forces by selecting from a drop down selection box. I haven't done much testing on it, so if you find something that you think should be fixed or added let me know.
All the armies have been added. |
| |
I have added a search page (thanks Ron for your help) , with it you can search by keyword for pieces that will help strengthen your army. Right now it's still in Beta form, so any suggestions or comments are welcome. I have only added the Forces of Good, but hope to have the rest added by the end of the week. There are a few special keywords, so be sure to read the keyword table below the search box before you begin. Click here to go to the search page ( there is also a link to it from here ) .
I have updated the FAQ and Links pages. |
| |
| I just added my review of Stratego Legends to the Kardon Scrolls. |
| Request for Info - 5/2/2000 | |
| I trying to put together a database on the pieces in each set. I have sets 3 and 6, if you have sets 1,2,4 or 5 and would like to help, send a list of the piece numbers to me. Thanks. |
| |
| Today I got a suggestion to have a trading post on the site. A place to trade your extra and unwanted pieces, I think this is a very good idea. If I remember correctly, in the rules it encourages piece trading. I have put it on my list of things to do, but it may be awhile before I get to it. As you have probably already noticed, I still have a lot of under construction pages that need to be completed first before I can get to it. |
| |
| Thunder Point is now open for beta testing. I still have a lot of to add. |
