A few Variants for Stratego Legends by Zoooma

m y freind and I have developed two or three variants I'd like to share. The first two are variations of multi-player games, except we play them two way. The multi-player rules are still in effect, except One player makes all the decisions.

War:

Each player provides six terrain maps and three complete armies. The armies must each be entirely made of one colour, and there must be one army of each colour. Each army has it's own two boards.

The boards are set up 3x4, not 2x6. each army is placed (randomly) on two of the boards, one directly in front of the other. The armies go deep, and not long.

The game plays exactly as in a six player game, except one player plays for each of the three would-be-players on his team.

The Great Divide:

Each player provides fifteen terrain maps and Six complete armies. The armies must each be entirely made of one colour, and there must be two army of each colour. No piece can be used more time than it could be used in a single army. That is, you may only use one of each ten (betwwen the two armies of that colour), five of each magic, etc. Each army has it's own two boards, and three boards (from each player) are set aside to create a neutral stip in the middle (The Great Divide).

The boards are set up 6x5. each armies boards are randomly placed one behind the other, next to another such two boards belonging to a freindly army. The neutral boards are randomly set up in the middle, forming a divide. each army is placed (randomly) on it's own two boards, going deep, and not long.

The game plays exactly as in a multi-player game, except one player plays for each of the six would-be-players on his team.

Non-elite Forces:

Each player assembles an army for their opponent to play. That's it.

The ellement of surprise is gone, but it helps develope coping skills and encourages one to think of new and unobviuos ways to make pieces usefull. It can also provide humorous amusement to see what nasty and useless combinations one ends up with.
